Current Calculations

The RBC collaboration, working with the UKQCD and LHPC collaborations, we are creating a large ensemble of lattice configurations generated in full QCD with 2+1 flavors of domain wall quarks and the Iwasaki action.  The current status of this calculation (as of December 24, 2008) is given in the following table:

32^3 x 64, beta = 2.25, 1/a ~ 2.42 GeV, m_strange = 0.030
m_light Number of time units collected to date:
0.004 6865
0.006 7650
0.008 5930
24^3 x 64, beta = 2.13, 1/a = 1.73(3) GeV, m_strange = 0.040
m_light Number of time units collected to date:
0.005 8980
0.01 8545
0.02 2850
0.03 2813
16^3 x 32, beta = 2.13, 1/a ~ 1.73(3) GeV, m_strange = 0.040
m_light Number of time units collected to date:
0.01 4000
0.02 4000
0.03 4000
16^3 x 32, beta = 2.03, 1/a ~ 1.5 GeV,m_strange = 0.035
m_light Number of time units collected to date:
0.02 250

These configurations are being created on the QCDOC machine in Edinburgh and the RBRC and DOE QCDOC computers at the Brookhaven National Laboratory and the BG/P machine at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF).  The initial configurations with the smallest lattice spacing, 1/a=2.42 GeV, were generated using the DOE QCDOC computer as part of the USQCD lattice QCD allocations for 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.  During the past nine months, the bulk of these most challenging ensembles have been generated using the Incite and Early Science time allocate at the ALCF to the USQCD collaboration.   These ensembles will shortly be accompanied by standard, 4-D projected, quark propagators for the m_light=0.004, 0.006 and 0.008 ensembles.

Some N_f=2 and 2+1 configurations are now publicly (or privately to U.S. lattice collaboration members) available for download on the BNL web site: http://lattices.qcdoc.bnl.gov
